Netball Rules

Netball is a fast, skillful team game based on running, jumping, throwing and catching. Teams consist of 7 players per side, each assigned specific positions on the court.

Basic Rules

• A match consists of four 15-minute quarters
• Each team has 7 players on court at one time
• Players cannot run with the ball — they must pass within 3 seconds
• Only the Goal Shooter (GS) and Goal Attack (GA) can score
• Goals are scored from within the semi-circle (shooting circle)
• Players must stay within their designated areas on court
• Contact with an opponent is not allowed
• A player with the ball cannot be defended closer than 3 feet (0.9m)
