MOICDE WINS 2023 LEAGUE

The Kenya Netball Federation has selected a team of 12 women and 12 men to represent the country in African Netball Cup set to take place in Gaborone, Botswana from November 28th to December 6th at University of Botswana Sports Complex.

Kenya Head Coach Ali Mugisha when naming the team said that it was important for Kenya to participate in many championships so as to improve its continental ranking.

Coach Mugisha noted that the team carried the hopes of many Kenyans, and that the coaching staff and himself had tried their best to balance the squad to incorporate the experienced and the upcoming players, with 18 year old Doreen Akinyi (Goal Attack) fresh from Kobala Secondary School in Homabay County and Winnie Oyugi from Ulinzi making a debut into the national team.

National League new comers Equity Bank brought in Winnie Akinyi (Defender) and Nancy Apiyo (Wing Attack) who were selected to join the national team headed for Gaborone.

Named in the Men’s team were newbies from Kenya Prisons Stanley Msubi (Midfielder), Ganek’s Hezron Mbaabu (Wing Attack ) and defender Victor Otieno who has just joined Kakamega County team from Masinde Muliro University.

The Kenyan team is expected to leave for Gaborone on Monday 27th and are expected on the court the following day.

Also in the team are Parin Nekesa Simiyu (Team Captain), Lucy Akumu, Mary Atieno, Irene Anyango, and Terry Othuo from Kanta Prisons Netball Club, Jackline Auro, Doreen Akinyi, Deborah Khakula, and Carolyne Makokha from Ulinzi Swords Netball Club, and Winnie Oyugi from Vihiga Executive Club.

The Men to selected to the Kenya Men’s Netball Team are John Ochuka, Victor Mbithi, Chester Kioko (Captain), Isaac Lang’at, Julius Karanja, Francis Wachika, Stanley Msubi, Oscar Lyambila all of Kenya Prisons, From Ganet Netball club, Joseph Njoroge, Hezron Mbaabu and Waswa Masongo were selected, and finally Victor Otieno from Kakamega County netball Club.
